ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT
New Delhi, India
Approximately 75 Humphrey alumni from all over India gathered for a Humphrey Alumni Global Policy Series in New Delhi to address global challenges in climate change, sustainable development, livelihood security, education and innovation, and women’s empowerment and gender equality. Participants heard from U.S. Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti, who applauded the work of Humphrey alumni and encouraged them to continue working together in areas of critical importance to India and the United States. The series of panels featured alumni from multidisciplinary backgrounds and provided concrete opportunities for further collaboration. Participants also conducted a community site visit at a rejuvenated body of water at Mahawad village of Uttar Pradesh, where they learned about the efforts to conserve biodiversity of the village and planted trees with schoolchildren around the pond. The visit provided the group with a better understanding of how environmental conservation initiatives function at the local level.
