Humphrey alumni gathered across world regions to advance solutions to shared challenges and celebrate the positive impacts of Humphrey alumni in building an inclusive global society, championing good governance and human rights, and promoting sustainable livelihoods and thriving communities.

Global Policy Dialogue Series

Rabat, Morocco

On September 23, 2024, seventeen Humphrey alumni and fellow U.S. government exchange alumni gathered for a Global Policy Dialogue in Rabat, Morocco. The event focused on critical issues, including public health, education, and economic development. Through roundtable discussions and networking opportunities, participants explored policy solutions and shared strategies to address challenges in their fields. The Dialogue emphasized the power of collaboration, allowing alumni to exchange practical ideas and connect with key stakeholders. This engagement reinforced the importance of collective action in tackling global challenges, showcasing how Humphrey alumni continue to lead efforts for positive change within their communities. 

Bratislava, Slovakia

On September 24-25, 2024, Bratislava, Slovakia, hosted the Humphrey Alumni Global Policy Dialogue (GPD) titled “Building a Resilient Future in Central and Eastern Europe.” This significant event convened twenty-seven alumni, thought leaders, policymakers, and civil society representatives to discuss civil society engagement, social and economic development, the rule of law, good governance, media, and education. The dialogue featured panels and workshops designed to foster collaboration and networking. Key themes included strategies for strengthening democracy and addressing the region’s brain drain issue. The event aimed to empower local communities and promote sustainable development for a resilient future in Central and Eastern Europe. Alumni exchanged valuable insights and experiences, highlighting the importance of collective action in overcoming regional challenges.
Slovakia Global Policy Dialogues

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

On September 23-24, 2024, the Humphrey Alumni Association – Malaysia, in collaboration with the Malaysian American Commission on Educational Exchanges, hosted a Global Policy Dialogue on “Navigating Risks and Opportunities for a Secure and Sustainable ASEAN.” The event brought together around fifteen Humphrey alumni from Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, along with policymakers and civil society representatives. Key discussions focused on climate change, food security, and poverty alleviation. USDA Regional Agricultural Counselor Timothy Harrison opened the event, and UN Resident Coordinator HE Karima El Korri emphasized the importance of the United Nations Global Summit. Participants explored strategies to address the intersection of climate change and food security and later visited Universiti Putra Malaysia’s agricultural complex to engage with local farmers and learn about sustainable farming practices.

Zaragoza, Mexico

On July 8-11, fourteen Humphrey alumni joined other U.S. government exchange alumni in critical fields for a Global Policy Dialogue in Puebla, Mexico. The event focused on the design and implementation of public policy in fields such as agriculture, climate change, urban planning, public health, and human rights, among others. Humphrey alumni had the opportunity to serve as speakers and panelists, exchange ideas and best practices, and network with influential leaders from the public and private sectors in Mexico.

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Fifty Humphrey alumni from twenty-two African countries participated in the Humphrey Global Policy Dialogue on Women’s Sustainable Development. This event focused on addressing key issues like women’s digital and economic inclusion, public health, education, and climate action. The convening of prominent experts, including high-court judges, ministry officials, and senior representatives from organizations across Africa, in a range of policy areas concluded with the presentation of more than two dozen key findings and recommendations for promoting women’s empowerment in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The speakers are Peter Moran, Director, Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, and Agnes Igoye, 2010-2011 Fellow at the University of Minnesota from Uganda.
